Mukteshwar is located at a height of 7500 feet in Nainital district. It is named after the Mukteshwar Dham, an old Shiva temple. Chauli-ki- Jali is an overhanging cliff which is famous for rock climbing and rappelling. Saint Shri Mukteshwar Maharaj ji lived here in the Top Cottage Temple. This is an ideal place for meditation. There is a sunrise point at the PWD run guest house. One can view eagles and other scavengers from Chauli-ki-Jali. Mukteshwar is filled with deodar trees and one can get a spectacular view of 22 snow-capped peaks from here.
Summers are warm with mild rainfall. Winters are very cold with temperatures often going below freezing point.
